Nafplio is the natural base for exploring the Argolid. Mycenae and Epidaurus are both within half an hour by car, and the small village of Tolo, with its long sandy beach, is fifteen minutes away. Ancient Tiryns, with its colossal Cyclopean walls, sits literally on the main road north towards Argos and is worth a half-hour stop.
