The Danube-Ipoly National Park covers the forested hills on both sides of the Danube Bend, protecting one of the most biodiverse landscapes in Hungary. The park includes the Pilis Mountains on the west bank and the Börzsöny Hills on the east — relatively low ranges (up to about 700 metres) but with dense mixed forest, limestone gorges, and a good network of marked trails.
The viewpoint at Dobogókő (699 metres) is the most popular destination — accessible by bus from Budapest's Pomáz station and well-marked from there on foot. On a clear day the views extend across the Danube plain to the Carpathians. The park is also good for cycling: routes connect Szentendre, Visegrád, and Esztergom along the river and through the hills, with the Danube Bend Cycling Route following the riverbank for much of the distance.
