Dunakapu Square (literally "Danube Gate Square," marking the old city gate toward the river) is where Győr's evening bar scene concentrates. The square and the streets immediately around it have a cluster of bars, wine bars, and craft beer spots that fill up on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights — the student population ensures there is always a crowd.
The venues change more often than the square does, but the general character holds: relaxed, moderately priced, and young without being exclusively so. A few of the bars have outdoor tables that are used well into autumn with the help of gas heaters. Walk the square and pick based on what's busy — the places with people outside are usually the better ones.
