The grand café on Széchenyi Square that anchors the old-town café scene. The Rába has the high ceilings, marble tables, and cream-and-gold interior that the Central European coffeehouse tradition demands. It is where Győr residents come for morning espresso with a newspaper or afternoon cakes with friends.
The pastries are excellent — the dobos torte and the Esterházy cake are both worth it. Coffee is serious and well made. The terrace facing the square is the better place to sit in good weather; inside is comfortable year-round. Service tends toward the formal side but is efficient.
