Madárles means bird hide, and in Hortobágy that is a useful word to know. The national park’s flat wetlands, fishponds, and grasslands are one of Hungary’s great birding landscapes, and a hide gives you a better chance of watching without disturbing what you came to see.
Bring binoculars, go early or late, and ask locally which hides are productive in the current season. The experience is quiet by design: reeds, water, distant calls, and the slow reward of noticing movement in a very open landscape.
