The centre of Keszthely and Festetics Palace are walkable from each other, though the railway station and beach add some distance. A bicycle is useful in summer if you want to move between the station, the strand, the palace, and neighbouring villages without waiting for buses.
Hévíz is about 8 km away and easy by local bus or taxi. For Vonyarcvashegy, Balatongyörök, and the western north shore, use the train, a bike, or a car; the lakeside distances are short, but summer traffic can be slow.
