The Mezőkövesd Town Gallery (Városi Galéria) holds a permanent exhibition of Matyó embroidery spanning centuries and rotating shows of contemporary work — painting, sculpture, and craft revival. It is housed in a restored old building near the main square and is small enough to see thoroughly in an hour.
The embroidery exhibition is the reason most people come; the density of pattern and colour up close is the best argument for why this craft was given UNESCO status.
