The thermal baths at Sóstó (Aquarius Élményfürdő) are the main reason Nyíregyháza attracts visitors from beyond the city. The complex draws on warm saline thermal waters and includes indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, a wellness section, and a dedicated children's area. It is a proper Hungarian spa resort — not luxurious, but genuine, and much cheaper than equivalents in western Hungary or the Austrian Alps.
The surrounding wooded lake area gives the baths a pleasant setting. On a summer afternoon, the outdoor pools are busy but manageable. The baths are open year-round; in winter the heated outdoor pools are particularly good. The complex is adjacent to the Village Museum and zoo, making Sóstó an easy half-day or full-day trip from the city centre.
