The Hungarian Calvary climbs Szar Hill above Satoraljaujhely as both a religious path and a national memorial. Its stations recall cities and territories lost after the Treaty of Trianon, giving the walk a sharper historical charge than an ordinary hill chapel.
The reward is partly the view and partly the context. From above town you can see why borders matter so much here, with Slovakia close by and Tokaj-Hegyalja's wine landscape around you. Go slowly; the route is meant for reflection as much as sightseeing.
