Szamos Marzipan Museum

Sculptures, miniatures, and life-sized figures all made from marzipan

Address Dumtsa Jenő utca 12

A small museum and shop run by the Szamos confectionery dynasty, devoted entirely to sculpture in marzipan. The displays include miniature biblical scenes, models of the Hungarian Parliament and the Matthias Church, oversized chess sets, and life-sized statues — among them Michael Jackson and an unusually pink figure of Princess Diana — all crafted from almond paste.

The downstairs shop sells the cakes, chocolates, and marzipan figurines that built the Szamos brand, founded in 1935. The combination of unapologetic kitsch upstairs and good pastry downstairs makes it one of the more memorable stops on Szentendre's compact museum circuit. Open daily; admission charged for the museum, free for the shop.
