Szentes Thermal Bath

The Szentes thermal bath sits at the northern edge of town and draws on hot mineral water from a deep aquifer under the Great Plain. There are several pools at different temperatures — an outdoor swimming pool, a hotter therapeutic pool, a covered medicinal pool — and the prices are extremely low by Western standards.

The facility is not as glamorous as the famous baths of Budapest, but it is well-kept and used by a steady local clientele. It is the single most worthwhile reason to break a journey in Szentes, particularly in winter when the steam rises off the outdoor pool into the cold air over the plain.
