Fő tér, the elongated main square, is Szombathely's social centre — a broad pedestrian space lined with pastel Baroque and Eclectic façades, cafés with terraces, and a Trinity column at one end.
This is where you come for an afternoon coffee or an evening beer, and where the city's markets and festivals set up. It connects naturally to the cathedral square a short walk south.
