Kolaportið Flea Market

Reykjavik's weekend indoor flea market, in a former customs warehouse

Address Tryggvagata 19
Opening Hours Sat–Sun 11:00–17:00

Kolaportið is the only flea market in Iceland and a Reykjavik weekend institution. Held in a draughty former customs warehouse near the old harbour, the stalls sell secondhand wool sweaters and Icelandic books, vintage records, costume jewellery, smoked fish, fermented shark for the brave, and an unpredictable mix of small junk.

The food stalls at the back are worth a look even if you do not buy: rúgbrauð (geothermal rye), harðfiskur (dried fish), licorice, and a counter that sells hákarl in plastic tubs to anyone who wants to dare a friend. Open weekends only.
