Eating Out

There are only a handful of places to eat on Inis Oirr, all within a few minutes' walk of the pier. Tigh Ned's, the pub next to the pier, does soup, sandwiches, and the classic Irish bar lunch alongside a pint of Guinness. Tigh Ruairí (Rory's), a bit further along, has fresh seafood — crab claws, chowder, mackerel — and a beer garden looking out over the bay. South Aran House has a more ambitious tasting-menu restaurant focused on island produce, run from the same building as a small B&B; booking essential.

For something quick or self-catering, the small island shop stocks bread, cheese, fruit, and basics. The harbour has a kiosk selling teas and cakes in summer. Eating well on Inis Oirr is possible but limited — most visitors plan a single proper sit-down meal and pick up the rest on the move.
