Luan Gallery

The Luan Gallery is Athlone's main contemporary art space, housed in a restored historic building on the west bank near the castle. The name echoes the town's Irish root — Áth Luain — and the gallery has focused since its 2012 opening on exhibiting Irish artists, with a particular interest in work connected to the midlands region.

The programme mixes solo shows, group exhibitions, and community-focused projects. Admission is free. It's a quiet, well-curated space that fills a genuine gap in a town not otherwise known for its arts scene.
