Organico Café

A wholefoods shop on Glengarriff Road with a busy café attached, run by the Mazière sisters since the late 1990s. The food is largely vegetarian, mostly organic, and consistently good — soups, salads, hot tarts, baked things — and the bakery turns out the best sourdough in the town. The dinner menu is more ambitious, with wood-fired pizzas added in the evenings.

It is the kind of place that gives a small West Cork town some of its character. Come for breakfast, lunch or supper; the shop side is worth a browse for picnic supplies before a day on the peninsulas.
