Owenabue River Walk

The Owenabue River flows through the centre of Carrigaline before meeting Cork Harbour at Crosshaven, and the riverside path is the town's best walking route. The walk along the east bank runs through a mix of mature trees and open stretches with views over the estuary, connecting the town centre to the southern edge of Carrigaline.

The path is easy going and suitable for all abilities. At low tide the mudflats attract wading birds, making it a reasonable spot for birdwatching. The full riverside route to Crosshaven is more ambitious and follows minor roads and lanes — it's worth doing on a dry day with clear visibility over the harbour.
