Creative Quarter

The grid of streets between Dame Street and the Grand Canal Dock — centred on South Great George's Street, Drury Street, and Fade Street — forms Dublin's most eclectic shopping and dining district. Independent boutiques, vintage clothing shops, and design studios cluster alongside some of the city's best restaurants and bars. George's Street Arcade, a Victorian covered market built in 1881, is the neighbourhood's anchor: a cast-iron and red-brick galleria filled with record shops, jewellers, tarot readers, and food stalls.

The area has a distinct identity that resists the chain-store uniformity of Grafton Street to the east and the tourist polish of Temple Bar to the north. The George on South Great George's Street is Ireland's oldest and most famous LGBTQ+ bar. Fade Street Social, Pickle, and a string of smaller restaurants have made this one of Dublin's better eating neighbourhoods. By night the streets are lively without the stag-party atmosphere that has overtaken some of the surrounding areas.
