Getting There

By air: Dublin Airport is 12 km north of the city centre. The Airlink 747 and 757 buses run directly to the city centre (O'Connell Street, Connolly and Heuston stations) and are the cheapest option — around €8, journey time 35–50 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis cost around €30–35 to the city centre. Dublin has direct flights from most European cities and transatlantic connections from New York, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

By rail: Irish Rail services to the rest of Ireland depart from two stations. Connolly Station (north inner city, on the Luas Red Line) handles trains to Belfast, Sligo, Westport, and the east coast. Heuston Station (west of the centre, Luas Red Line) handles trains to Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, and the south and west.

By ferry: Ferries from Holyhead in Wales arrive at Dublin Port (served by Irish Ferries and Stena Line). The crossing takes about 2 hours by fast ferry, 3.5 hours by regular ferry. Ferries from Liverpool and Douglas (Isle of Man) arrive at Dublin Port and Dún Laoghaire respectively.
