Grafton Street

Dublin's premier pedestrian shopping street, known for buskers and Bewley's Café

Address Grafton Street, Dublin 2

Grafton Street is Dublin's principal pedestrianised shopping street, running south from College Green to St Stephen's Green. It's lined with national and international retailers, but the street's character comes from its buskers — some of the best street musicians in Ireland perform here — and from the anchor presence of Bewley's Oriental Café at number 78, a Dublin institution since 1927 with magnificent Harry Clarke stained glass windows.

The side streets are worth exploring: Johnson's Court and Wicklow Street have independent shops, and Duke Street leads to Davy Byrne's pub, the 'moral pub' of James Joyce's Ulysses.
