St Ann's Church

1720 church near Grafton Street; associated with Bram Stoker and a bread charity tradition since 1723

Address Dawson Street, Dublin 2

St Ann's Church on Dawson Street is a striking Romanesque Revival building from 1720, standing one block east of Grafton Street in the Trinity College area. The church is known for its bread shelf tradition — a charitable bequest from 1723 requires a shelf of loaves to be maintained at the church door for the poor, a practice that still continues symbolically.

The roll of notable parishioners includes Bram Stoker, who was baptised and worshipped here. The church interior contains interesting monuments and a small heritage display, and is freely open to visitors during daytime hours.
