Dundalk is served by regular trains on the Dublin Connolly–Belfast Central line, with about 10 trains a day in each direction. The journey from Dublin takes about an hour, from Belfast about 1 hour 15 minutes — making it a natural stop between the two capitals. Buses on the Dublin–Belfast Expressway route also stop here. By car, Dundalk sits just off the M1 motorway, about 80 km north of Dublin and 80 km south of Belfast.
