Fermoy is on the main Cork–Dublin road corridor, about 35 kilometres north of Cork city on the N8 (now bypassed by the M8 motorway). By car it is straightforward; the town exit is well signed from the motorway. Bus Éireann services on the Cork–Dublin route stop in Fermoy, making it accessible by public transport from both cities.
The nearest train station is Mallow, about 20 kilometres to the west, which is on the Cork–Dublin mainline. From Mallow you would need a taxi or car to reach Fermoy. The town's railway station closed in 1967.
