Getting There

Galway is connected to Dublin by direct train from Ceannt Station at Eyre Square; the journey takes about 2 hours 15 minutes and trains run several times daily. This is the most comfortable option from Dublin. Buses (Bus Éireann and privately operated coaches) also run the Dublin–Galway route, taking about 3 hours depending on traffic.

Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC) in County Mayo, about 60 kilometres north of Galway, handles a growing range of regional routes including connections to London, Manchester, and other UK cities. Dublin Airport is the main international hub. From Dublin Airport, coaches run directly to Galway taking about 3 hours 30 minutes; the train requires a connection.

Galway has no ring road to speak of, and the city centre can be congested. If arriving by car, parking is expensive in the centre. The main car parks are on Eyre Square and Jurys Hotel. If you are not moving around by car during your stay, it is better to park on the outskirts near a bus route and come into the centre on foot or by bus.
