Things to Do

Galway's charm is in its streets and atmosphere as much as any individual sight. The Spanish Arch, the medieval city walls, and the Long Walk along the harbour are all within a few minutes of each other. The Galway City Museum beside the arch is free and well worth an hour. The great medieval church of St. Nicholas stands on the corner of Shop Street, and Galway Cathedral rises over the Corrib a few hundred metres west. Beyond the city centre, the Salthill Promenade stretches along the bay and is perfect for a windblown walk.
