Eating Out

Limerick's food scene has improved dramatically since the 2010s, and a small group of restaurants now consistently rank among Ireland's best. The historic Georgian quarter holds most of the serious dining; the Milk Market on Mungret Street is the place for casual food and weekend brunch.

One Pery Square — the restaurant of the boutique hotel in a restored Georgian house on Pery Square; modern Irish, set menus, the most reliable upmarket meal in the city.

Cornstore Limerick — long-established steak and seafood on Thomas Street with a wide menu and good local ingredients; popular for special occasions.

The Buttery — a small restaurant on Catherine Street, market-driven menu that changes weekly; a Bib Gourmand winner some years.

Curragower Bar — a riverside pub opposite the castle that does the best plate of mussels in the city, with a panoramic view of King John's Castle from the upstairs dining room.

For something simpler, the Milk Market's Saturday hot food stalls serve everything from Limerick smoked pork to Burmese curry; the queue at the dosa stall on a Saturday morning is a Limerick institution.
