St John's Cathedral is Limerick's main Roman Catholic cathedral, built in the 1860s in a confident neo-Gothic style. Its spire rises 94 metres, making it the tallest church spire in Ireland and a useful landmark on the east side of the city center.
The interior is quieter than the exterior suggests, with the steady feel of a working parish church. It is an easy stop while walking between the Milk Market, People's Park, and the older riverfront sights.
