Two long sandy beaches — the First Beach near the village pier and the Second Beach a little further north — make Rosses Point a long-standing favourite for Sligo families on hot summer weekends. The water is clean enough to swim in, the sand is firm enough to walk for miles, and the views inland to Knocknarea and Benbulben are exceptional.
Lifeguards are on duty in summer. There are toilets and changing huts near the First Beach, and parking is free but fills up by lunchtime on sunny weekends. In winter the beaches empty out and become a wind-blasted long walk — equally enjoyable in a different mood.
