Carnsore Point

Windswept southeastern tip of Ireland, with sea views, birdlife, and a strong edge-of-the-map feeling.

Carnsore Point is the low, exposed corner where Ireland turns from the Irish Sea toward the Atlantic approaches. It is not a polished attraction, but the wind, sea, and wide horizon make it a satisfying detour from Rosslare if you like coastlines with a bit of weather in them.

The point is also known for birds and for its place in Irish environmental history, when plans for nuclear power here met strong opposition. Bring layers, expect little shelter, and treat the drive as part of the experience.
