La Camosciara

La Camosciara is a classic park outing near Civitella Alfedena, known for cliffs, waterfalls, woods, and the chance of spotting Abruzzo chamois on the higher slopes. It is one of the most accessible ways to see the park's mountain scenery.

Because it is accessible, it can also be busy. Go early, follow signed paths, and check local rules on shuttle access or seasonal restrictions before assuming you can drive all the way in.

A story
La Camosciara was part of the early protected core that helped give the national park its purpose. Its name points to the chamois, and the cliffs and woods still feel like the sort of landscape conservationists would fight to keep intact.
