The Monti della Meta form the higher, rougher southern side of the park, close to the meeting point of Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise. This is more serious walking country than the easy valley trails around Pescasseroli.
Monte Meta itself is a fine objective for experienced hikers in settled weather. Treat it as a mountain route, not a casual excursion: check conditions, start early, and carry proper gear.
