Getting There

A car is the practical way to explore the Majella. From Pescara, roads climb inland through towns such as Manoppello, Guardiagrele, and Caramanico Terme; from Sulmona, the western side of the range is close and more convenient for Campo di Giove and the Morrone mountains.

Public transport reaches some towns, but connections are sparse and rarely line up neatly with trailheads. If you are planning proper hikes, check local park information before setting out and expect snow or closed high routes outside summer.
