Miglionico Ridge Viewpoint

The ridge on which Miglionico sits offers some of the best open views in this part of Basilicata. Looking south and west, the Bradano and Basento river valleys spread out below — wide agricultural plains, scattered farmsteads, and the bare clay hills typical of the Basilicatan interior. On a clear day you can see for thirty kilometres or more.

The best viewpoints are near the castle and at the western end of the main street. No facilities, no entry charge — just find a spot along the walls or by the edge of the escarpment and take it in. Particularly good in the late afternoon when the light catches the hills from the west.
