Amantea breaks naturally into the historic centre on the hill — full of stone steps, narrow lanes, and the ruined Byzantine castle — and the lower, newer town along the seafront. Spend a morning climbing through the centro storico up to the castle, and an afternoon on the beach. The Tyrrhenian sunsets here are among the best on the Calabrian coast.
