Cocoricò

Cocoricò is one of the most famous nightclubs in Italy and one of the landmarks of European electronic music. The building is striking — a large glass pyramid lit from within — and the sound system inside matches the architecture in ambition. The club has been operating since 1987 and has hosted virtually every significant name in techno, house, and tech house music across that period.

The club runs Friday and Saturday nights through the summer and some Sundays. Doors typically open around midnight and the serious crowd arrives after 2 a.m. It is not a place for a casual evening drink; this is a club for people who came specifically to dance. The location is at the southern edge of Riccione, reachable by taxi in ten minutes from the center.

A story
Cocoricò was one of the first clubs in Europe to dedicate its programme entirely to electronic music, booking techno and house DJs from Detroit and Chicago in the late 1980s when those sounds were still underground in Italy. The club helped establish the Rimini-Riccione riviera as one of the most important scenes in European electronic music, a status it maintained through the 1990s and 2000s.
