Città Vecchia

Città Vecchia is Trieste's old town, a compact tangle of narrow lanes and medieval houses rising behind the waterfront. Much of the area is closed to traffic, making it one of the easiest parts of the city to explore on foot.

It works best as a slow walk between the Roman theatre, Piazza Unità d'Italia, the cathedral hill, and the small streets that still feel older and tighter than the Habsburg city around them.
