Civitavecchia is 60 km northwest of Rome on the Tyrrhenian coast. Trains from Roma Termini run every 20-40 minutes and take 50-80 minutes depending on whether you take an express (Intercity) or a regional. The station is a 15-minute walk south of the cruise terminal. By car, the A12 motorway runs from Rome; the exit is signposted from the city centre.
The cruise port is one of the busiest in the Mediterranean — most major lines call here as a Rome stop. The terminal building has shuttle buses to the centre of town (free), and a private train (Civitavecchia Express, seasonal) runs direct from the port to Rome. Ferries to Sardinia (Olbia, Cagliari, Porto Torres), Sicily (Palermo), Tunisia (Tunis) and Barcelona depart daily from Stazione Marittima.
