Villa Volpi is a neoclassical seaside residence built in the 1950s for Countess Nathalie Volpi di Misurata on a stretch of dune-backed beach south of the town. The architecture — colonnades, pediments, a long swimming pool aligned with the sea — was a deliberate counterpoint to the rationalist new town and a magnet for the international set who summered on this coast in the 1960s and 70s.
The villa is private and not normally open to visitors, but it is visible from the beach and from the road that leads down to it, and is a curious set-piece in an otherwise undeveloped landscape.
