Piazza Garibaldi is the main square of modern Tivoli, on the western edge of the old town opposite the Rocca Pia. From its parapet the entire Roman Campagna unfolds — on a clear day you can see the dome of St Peter's, 30 kilometres away.
The piazza is the natural gathering point in the early evening, with several cafés, the post office, and the main bus stop for services back to Rome. A short escalator drops from one corner into the lower town and the train station.
