The Orto Botanico di Montemarcello sits inside the natural park, just below the hill village of Montemarcello, and serves as a living catalogue of the plants of the Ligurian coast. The collection is organised by habitat — Mediterranean macchia, holm-oak forest, coastal cliffs, and freshwater stream — so a slow walk through is also a quick lesson in the surrounding landscape.
It is a quiet, well-tended place rather than a major sight; the visit takes 30 to 45 minutes. There are picnic benches under the pines, and the path that leads on past the gate continues into the wider trail network of the park. Combine it with a walk in Montemarcello village and the descent to Punta Corvo for a full day on the headland.
