The baroque parish church of the Natività di Maria Vergine stands in the village centre and is Garlenda's most notable building. Its octagonal dome is visible from some distance; inside, the church contains a canvas attributed to Guercino, the 17th-century Bolognese painter whose work is found across northern Italy. Worth looking at even if you cannot get inside — the facade and dome are attractive and the setting in the small piazza is characteristic of a Ligurian hillside village.
