Garlenda has one or two small family-run trattorie serving classic Ligurian dishes. Expect trofie al pesto, pansotti con salsa di noci (pasta parcels in walnut sauce), grilled fish brought in from the coast, and farinata (the Ligurian chickpea flatbread, baked in a wood-fired oven). Portions are generous and prices are modest by comparison with the coastal resorts. Book ahead on summer weekends, when the handful of tables fills quickly.
