Portofino Lighthouse

A working 19th-century lighthouse on the tip of the Portofino promontory, reached by a 25-minute walk from the harbour along a stepped path that climbs past Castello Brown and the church of San Giorgio. The walk is the essential excursion in Portofino: views down to the harbour, over to the open Ligurian Sea, and along the coast toward Levanto.

A small cafe with a terrace beside the lighthouse serves coffee and aperitivi until sunset. The path is paved and shaded — feasible in summer heat — but takes about an hour return at a relaxed pace.

A story
The lighthouse stands on Punta Capo, the very tip of the Portofino promontory — the southernmost point in this part of the Ligurian coast. It is the most popular short walk in the park because the path passes Castello Brown and San Giorgio on the way and ends at a tiny cafe (Il Faro) at the lighthouse itself, with a 270-degree sea view.
