Getting There

Como sits about 45 km north of Milan, close to the Swiss border, and is well connected by rail and road.

By train — The fastest option from Milan is the Trenord regional service from Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni, taking around 35–40 minutes and running roughly every hour. A second line runs from Milano Cadorna to Como Lago (the lakefront station), taking about 55 minutes.

From Switzerland — Direct trains from Zurich reach Como San Giovanni in around three hours; trains from Lugano take about 30 minutes.

By car — From Milan, take the A9 motorway north. Exit at Como Monte Olimpino or Como Nord depending on your destination. The drive is about 45 minutes without traffic.

By air — The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa (about 55 km, best by shuttle or rental car) and Milan Linate (about 50 km). Lugano Airport is the closest international option for Swiss connections.
