Urbino eats simply, like the rest of the Marche: handmade pasta, slow-cooked meats from the surrounding hills, and the crescia sfogliata — a flaky stuffed flatbread that locals fold around prosciutto or salame or stracchino cheese. It's the city's signature street food and you'll see it sold from small bakeries everywhere.
A typical meal in a trattoria costs €20-30 a head. The cheap student joints around Piazza della Repubblica and Via Mazzini sell cresce and beer for a few euros. The wines of the Marche — Bianchello, Verdicchio, the local Sangiovese — are worth seeking out and easy to find.
