Getting There

Alagna Valsesia is at the head of a long valley — the drive in is impressive but there is no shortcut.

By car: From Milan, take the A26 motorway toward Alessandria/Genova and then the A26 north toward Gravellona Toce. Exit at Romagnano-Ghemme and follow the SS299 road up the Valsesia valley for about 60 kilometres. The drive takes roughly 2 hours from Milan. From Turin, allow about 2.5 hours.

By train and bus: Trains run to Varallo Sesia from Milan or Novara. From Varallo, regional buses run up the valley to Alagna. The journey takes about 3 hours in total from Milan.

By air: The nearest major airports are Milan Malpensa (about 90 minutes by road) and Turin (about 2.5 hours). Neither has direct transport to Alagna — you will need to rent a car or connect via train to Varallo and then bus.
