Asti has regular trains to Turin, Alessandria, and Alba, making it one of the easier Monferrato towns to reach without a car. The station is south of the historic centre, about ten minutes on foot from Piazza Alfieri.
Drivers use the A21 motorway between Turin and Piacenza or the smaller roads through the wine hills. A car is useful for villages and cellars outside town, but not needed for the centre itself.
