Torre Troyana

Torre Troyana is the tower everyone notices in Asti: tall, square, brick-built, and still confident after centuries of urban reshuffling. It belonged to the Troya family and later became a civic bell tower, which is why it feels both aristocratic and public.

When open, the climb rewards you with a view over the old centre and the vineyard hills beyond. Even from street level it is worth pausing here, because the tower explains the city’s nickname better than any museum panel could.

A story
Asti was nicknamed the city of a hundred towers, a display of family power as much as defence. Torre Troyana survives as the most famous of them, a reminder that medieval Asti's merchant families competed vertically as well as politically.
