The Museo della Vita e delle Tradizioni Popolari Sarde on Via Antonio Mereu is one of the finest ethnographic museums in Italy. The collection covers the full range of Sardinian material culture: elaborately embroidered festival costumes, antique jewellery in filigree silver and coral, carved wooden furniture, handwoven carpets, and the carved wooden masks of the Barbagia carnival. It is the best single introduction to the island's interior culture, and worth an unhurried two hours.
