The mountain that looms over Nuoro rises to 955 metres and is topped by a large bronze statue of the Redeemer, cast in 1901. A road winds up from town, but it is also walkable in about an hour. The views from the summit take in the town below, the Barbagia valleys, and on a clear day the mountains of the Gennargentu massif to the south. There is a small wooded park near the summit, pleasant for a picnic.
